Our Quarries
Our quarries are some kilometres in the northern of Neohori. There the slate from the Pelion is produced. Since several hundred years these natural stones are well known by the name "Pelion slate" (plakes Piliou). Since the Middle Ages the inhabitants of Neohori supplied the entire Mediterranean area (Egypt, Italy, Spain etc.) up to the black sea with Pelion stones and schist produced in the quarries of Neohori.
Today the stones and schist from Neohori play an important role in the Greek market and are still exported very successfully into a lot of foreign countries around the world.
Many advantages occur by using the famous Pelion slate: it adapts to the colour of the environment, is highly durable, gives a balance for all variation of temperatures and is absolutely non-skid.
